the eb16 in its protecting paper wraping

the mpc2kxl ready for the installment
Image

a screwdriver ís needed for loosening the bottomplate
Image

STEP 1:
AFTER THE UNPLUGMENT TURN THE UNIT UPSIDEDOWN.
A PILLOW WILL DO, AND IT WONT SCRAPE THE FACEPLATE....
Image

STEP 2:
HERE IS THE MODERBOARD OF THE UNIT.
Image

NOTICE THE WHITE CONNECTOR TO THE RIGHT?
ITS THERE THE EB 16 IS TO BE INSTALLED.
MOUNT THE CARD WITH THE MICROCHIPS FACED UPWARDS
Image

STEP 3:
THIS IS HOW IT SHOULD LOOK LIKE WHEN ITS CONNECTED.
NOW, NOTICE THE SCREWHOLE ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE EB16-CARD.
MAKE SHURE TO MOUNT INTO THE CONNECTOR SO THE SCREWHOLE IS EVEN THRU THE EB16CARDD AND TO THE UNITCHASSI, OTHERWISE THE SCREW WONT TIGHTEN
Image

STEP 4.
THERE YA GO, THE SCREW IS TIGHTENED AND IN ITS PLACE
Image

STEP 5:
RE-SCREW THE BOTTOMPLATE
Image

STEP 6:
POWER ON THE UNIT AND ENTER MIXER SCREEN (SHIFT + 7) THEN GO INTO FXSETUP (F5 THEN CHECK IF THE MPC RECOGNIZES THE EB16 CARD.
Image
Image

IF YOU HAVE REACHED THIS FAR THE FX CARD SHOULD BE READY TO BE USED.
(sorry for the blurry pictures, they are taken with my cellphone, the
camera cant keep the focus whenever the object i to close to the the lens.)

Nice tutorial.
I'd never be able to fit a EB16 card in there cuz that's where my harddrive now sits. :(

Looking forward to the flash rom tutorial.

 didn't know a hd could be mounted inside the mp
do you have anything mounted in the front slot of the 2kxl?
could you please post pictures? would be neat to see how it looks like.

Hello, im new to this forum.

I got the eb16 this morning, i tried to install it and it fits to the right socket. But when i try to turn my MPC On, it just blinks and wont turn on at all. The mpc screen just blinks.

What might be the reason for this?

All the best

I got a card reader in the first slot... I guess.

I followed this tutorial for the HD installation:

2 things to think about if you are thinking about a HD inside the MP

1. If you are using the MP more like an instrument ("really gettin crazy into it" instead of "programming" beats) the MP and the HD aswell will get many many hits from your fingers. read/write head in HDs dont like shocks like that.

2. Noise factor. The HD will always run and so you will always hear the drives noise. I use an external MO Drive. When I dont need the drive I eject the MO Disk and the drive is quiet as death :)

my bad to bring up an old thread but i'm currently taking a eb16 and 8 outs out of the 2000 regular and putting into the XL. taking off the bottom plate for the XL is easy enough, but i see the bottom of the 2000 is different. its the bottom and back in one. do i have to unscrew all the screws (all on back and bottom of mpc 2000) to take it off and perform the transfer of parts? thats what its looking like but confirmation would be cool to see im on the right path. thanks

No you dont need to anything with the scews ion the bottom of the 2000. You need to open the upper case.

1. take out the screws on the side of the 2000 (4 screws)
2. Oh I just realized that I talked bs about the bottom screws :D so unscrew the 3 screws on the bottom (front) that hold the plastic front panel
3. Pull off the frontpanel
4. When you took it off you'll see another 3 screws that need to be unscrew
5. On the back are another 3 screw
6. Now you can open the case.
7 you'll need to unscrew the metalplate with the pads and the PCB on it too.

Look at this thread with pics

The frame and mobo's are phisically different, but if you actually look at the classic mobo you can figure it out easy enough. I've done it on both, not hard at all.

Aight, thanx for the quick reply Lampdog! Tomorrow is 2nd christmas day ( here in holland ) and I got the day off, so plenty of time to mod my classic. Got some new pads and new floppydrive and i'm transplanting the eb16 from my XL to my classic. Love working on those machines.

Yeah you have to basically take apart the entire classic to get at the guts. I would get a piece of paper and tape to label/keep track of the different screws.
