SCSI Fuse?

Question for anyone who has ran into this issue.

About last month my Zip drive went dead. So I went a head and ordered another one, come to find out I was given the "Read Error", so I was like hmm, possibly a bad drive. So I went a head and order another one off ebay.

As soon as I got the other drive I hooked it up and everything was good, the MPC recognized it and allowed me to load my APS file. But then I went to load my sequence and got "Read Error" and I was like WTF? Serious? Tried to eject the disk, nothing. The damn drive feel asleep on me, so the only way to eject the disk was to power everything down, then power the zip up and eject it. Tried this 4 times and every time I would be able to load the APS, get the sounds on the MPC, but an error with the sequence.

So I went back to the other drive, and got nothing but Read Error. So I was GTFO!! lol

I thought at first a blown fuse, but if its a blown fuse would the MPC even respond to trying to read the SCSI info? And how was I able to load the APS? Does this sound more like I got screwed on two drives? If so how the hell is the one allowing me to load the APS but not the sequence........


Anyway, drop your knowledge in here. I'm past due on upgrading to the 2500, I'm tired of the zip drive bs...

Hard to believe 3 different 'scsi' drives would give the same result. could it possibly be the 'same' zip disk you are trying to read? i.e., the disk may be close to being corrupted if not there already. i think if the scsi port fuse were blown you would not even get the 'read error', so i think the scsi port fuse is still good. but personally i think the zip disk is suspect. my opinion. word.

I've tried two other disk and had the same issue. And on the 2nd replacement drive it will allow me to load any APS file but as soon as I go to load the sequence file it goes into sleep mode and I get the "Read Error". So it does not look to be disk related. But I was suspect on the disk as well because it would not load the sequence.

Before I rule out this one replacement I'm gonna format a new disk, and attempt to save to it to see what happens. Will re-update.
