MPC 2000XL audio problems

Guys I have an mpc 2000xl and the guy who sold it to me gave me all the stuff I needed to sample from YouTube with a Y cable I was told all you had to do was hook it up to a computer and record but there is no sound coming out and I've tried everything
HELP!!!
