MPC 2000xl, SP404sx, audio interface, and mixer?

Hey guys.

My MPC 2000xl comes in on Monday and I want your setup recommendations, please.

I want to connect my MPC to the 404sx to use as an effects machine. I also have a 2 channel mixer, and an audio interface. How would you recommend I connect everything? This is what I was thinking:

MPC2000xl main out to the in on the SP (cables)
Midi out of MPC to midi in on SP
SP main out to mixer or interface?
Mixer/interface to powered monitors

Will this work?

It will work, but what is the MIDI cable for? are you going to sample all your sounds in the 404 and sequence with the MPC? You said you want to use the 404 as an effects box, no MIDI is required to do this. Depending on what mixer and interface you have I would run everything into the mixer then use bus or aux sends into the interface, but that's just one option.
