Whats up people,
I am trying to upgrade my mpc2000xl from my 3.5 floppy disk. I found this below to purchase but I wanted to check in with you guys to see if this will work . StarTech.com 3.5-Inch Drive Bay IDE

Yes, it works with MPC-2000XL. Make sure to use Sandisk brank CF card (otherwise, it may not work.)

I used the same card reader here:

Thanks. Great link. So another question is I see a lot of people saying it's not hot swappable. Is having that option necessary and why would they rather have one that's hot swappable?

If you ask me, it is not that bad at all, especially compared to having to use floppy disks.
If I need to remove CF card from MPC-2000XL, I'd just save the current project on the card, turn off MPC,
remove the card, mount on PC, copy files to the CF card.
Really, personally, I've never felt that I really want to have hot-swappable CF reader.

You just have to make sure that you don't remove card when MPC is on. MPC sees it as internal hard drive.

i have to agree, while the hot swap is nice, i find i am rarely needing to go back and forth between computer and mpc. it also forces you to save more often and that is a good thing.

I believe only 1GB is allowed on that StarTech Drive.
Also... keep in mind you need to have OS1.2 on your 2000XL for that CF drive to work.
