Drums sounds getting shortened (slightly)...?

Just got an MPC 2000XL. Having a blast with it so far.

I have a question though. One thing I noticed is that my drum sounds sound different in the load preview once they're assigned to a pad. Once assigned to a pad it sounds like some of the beginning of the drum sample is slightly cut off.

Any idea as to what's causing this?

check your attack, decay, and velocity settings.

its likely just you hearing the envelope, which is inactive during sample preview.
