Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

I’ve been on the Mpc 2000 for over 10 years now and thinking about picking up a s2800 for effects, 8 outs etc. I was going to just get the upgrades but just for a few bucks more I can get so much more out of the s2800. Anybody have any suggestions?

The S2800's effects are mainly delays and flanger type effects. There is no reverb if that is what you're looking for.

Also, the S2800 does not have 8 outs. It has stereo out and 4 individual mono outs. Some people in recent time have been picking them up as they're cheaper than a S3000 or S3200 which both are said to have the same sample engine as the MPC 3000 -- Which is still clean in my opinion anyway but that is an entirely different conversation.

do it, theres some extra playback features you get from rack version sampler that you dont even get from a fully upgraded mpc.

I'd choose the S3000XL over the S2000 just due to the easier editing with the screen. The both sound identical as they're the same internally (mainboard, dac) just the physical form factor and screen differences.

The only time I personally care about the S2000 is if it is super cheap and has expansion cards (8 out, EB16) for me to take out and use in my 2000/XL or to sell.

Thank you all for the inputs!! It turns out it was a s3000xl. That’s why it had the 8 outs. It was labeled wrong on eBay lol I’m very new to rack samplers but very excited about the learning process! The mpc 2000 has been very good to me. If you guys have any tricks or tips let me know. Thanks! :worthy:

I hope the SCSI is working on your S3000XL ! If you turn it on and see it stall waiting to find a SCSI hard drive, it means the fuse is dead on it.

It's cheap to fix though.
