Well I read the tutorial and quite frankly I am as lost as I will ever be...I have it hooked up and my turntable is getting picked up by the mpc. The thing about the tutorial is that it tells you how to do everything expect for record the sample, and how one would assign it to a pad...Can someone give me a handle on how I go about this? thanks for your time...

right I assume you have your turntable rigged up to your mpc via some kinda preamp/mixer going into the mpc record in sockets, so it feeding a suitable volume level to the mpc o.k

Press shift + sample
-set the parameters for your recording lenght mode etc.
-start the vinyl going around the area you want to sample.
-adjust the input vol using the record knob and vol on turntable mixer once your happy with the vol cue up the vinyl a bit before the part your sampling.
-press record on the mpc and let go of the vinyl. press stop/rec button once your sample has played (the mpc won't start until it gets a sound above the set level on the screen)
then the mpc will ask you if you wish to listen/keep/assign the sound.

hope that made it clearer
