I'm after a decent audio interface with a reasonable number of I/O

Low latency is high priority too.

I could get an MPC X (not sure on latency or i/o though) and the standalone aspect would be nice but I have a feeling a would get more for my money with an interface and I already have a studio which I have only used on the train to work. I use the JJOS 1K most of the time or the 3K

I have a 48 channel board with direct outs so a decent number of I/O on the interface would make sense for me in both recording and spreading things out on the board.

Suggestions ?

I've been looking at RME stuff.

Performance & stability of their drivers is insane!

FOR REALZ.

I've thrown alot of junk at the interface when I first got it down to 64 sample buffer (usb and firewire), 192khz
and never once did it hiccup. In fact it looked at me and was like....
