I just opened up this one knowing it had some issues...realized the circuit board was cracked in the middle near the data wheel only affecting a number of traces, I soldered the traces back and managed to fix the pad bank sections, but I am still having troubles with the wheel. When I turn it, it only goes up and down in 1 increment (01-02) nothing higher or lower than that. Could it be the board or the encoder that needs replacement? Please help!

What version of encoder do you have?

I believe it's old one that has the top made of plastic. Got my hands on a multimeter and managed to fix the issue by bridging some traces I didn't know weren't soldered correctly. Ba-Da-Bing!

Since you already have experience working with repairing traces, I strongly suggest that you purchase the metal encoder.

It will require you to cut some traces to handle the remapping but once completed, the new metal encoder is so much better in feeling to use.
