Hello everybody i just had a question. Has anyone hydrographics dipped the side panels of their mpc 1000? I've been thinking about doing it in carbon fiber but i do not know if it has been done. Can anyone help me out?

I personally haven't heard or seen anyone that has hydrographic dipped the side panels of their MPC 1000, but that doesn't mean it can't be done as I seen plastic wheel tirms, air intake covers etc that have been hydrographic. You best bet would be to speak a company that specialises in hydropgraphic dipping to see whether it is possible, but I'm pretty sure it should be possible to hydrographic the plastic side panels.

Also you might be worth looking at buying a cheap pair of second hand side panels for testing, just encase it doesn't workout right and ruins your original side panels.

I plan do this in next month or so, i made a deal with my parents that if i get straight A's they would get me the black thick pads, the dip, and a mpc2000xl style skin, mind you im 14 haha, but i would just do the sides for now, the rest must wait until my final report comes lol

The old bribe your parents with grades routine I like it . I definitely agree with mr_debauch about getting JJOS on your 1000, even if its just the Free JJOS 3.16 version for now. Even the free version is leaps and bounds over the bug ridden stock Akai OS, here's the link for the free OS manual for you to have a look at

http://www7a.biglobe.ne.jp/~mpc1000/version3e.htm

Just food for thought but it maybe worth once you get into using the Free OS in purchasing one of the OS versions that suits your needs then going down the visual pimping route, might be worth grabbing an fully paid OS before pimping your machine. Here's a compariosn chart for the various OS versions

http://www7a.biglobe.ne.jp/~mpc1000/chart.htm

Between the JJOS website, JJOS manuals and using the search function on here that most of your question will have been covered and answered but if you get stuck then just ask, I'm pretty sure someone can help you out and welcome to the forum mate :smoker: .

:-D Yea when i first got my mpc it had the free JJOS on it but I went back to the akai OS. I have been thinking about getting JJOS though. But I just use it to make my beats. I don't really arrange or sequence music in it, I use a Korg Triton Extreme for that. So would JJOS still be practical? Thanks for the help guys.

I would swap as soon as possible back to the Free OS. If you run an MPC1000 with the original Akai OS, there is a well known bug in the OS itself that can actually cause file system corruption and directory errors corruption when loading/saving, which is something to do with the way it formats your card/drive. The solution is to install the free JJOS and reformat your card in JJOS (this is one of the bugs JJOS fixes).

As it might be worth considering getting more than one card by the way, so in these kinds of situations, you can just swap the card and save your work on an alternative card. Also remember to regularly backup :!:

So you're saying that in sometime when i load and save my samples, it may get corrupted and i may lose it? That's my main concern because i do mainly indian/caribbean type of music and the majority of my samples came from a Roland R8 MKII drum machine, as you may know its pretty old so i would lose those samples?

You could run the risk of losing everything that is saved on your MPC 1000 compact flash card using the Akai OS. Without fail, I would transfer the samples to PC via a card reader, install the Free JJOS, reformat your compact flash card in JJOS, then reinstall your samples and saved projects back on your compact flash card.
