Does anyone know where I can get a replacement? MPC stuff doesn't seem to have it and ebay is bust. Anyone know of any other online outlet?

Have you tried Akai themselves? They normally have some MPC1000 parts available.

Probably the only option now is to be looking at trying to cop a second hand machine on ebay for a relatively cheap price as a donor machine for the entire right side PCB. If it isn't completely knackered then maybe the only other option is send it to someone that specialises in sampler repairs to see if that can repair it?

I also am thinking about this. The reason is that I've read somewhere that it's the only way a new metal Jog wheel potentiometer will work on the mpc. Am I wrong?

Yes, you're wrong but you didn't break any laws. There is another thread that that details the small rewiring required to do so. Both my 1000's have the metal jog wheel installed and it's so much better, it's crazy.

I have done the rewiring now, and it works! Only annoying thing is that it skips one step per click when I've chosen the other wheel type o m.y jjos2xl.

Mine don't do that at all. Are you sure you bought the right encoder?

the value skips 2 digits with the wrong setting on jjos. try wheel type 1 or 2 in "OTHER" setting.
if that doesnt help and if you are in germany or europe you can send it over to me.

One of the wheel types made it skip 2 digits, while the other one didnt move at all when turning the wheel to the right. I'll look into it when I come back home in a day or two. But thanks for the response!
