MPC 1000 SANDISK 16 GB PROBLEM!!

Hi! Just bought a new 16gb sandisk CF card for my mpc 1000. When I put it in and turn on the mpc it takes longer time to start(like 5 minutes) and when I go to save/load whenever I try to do something with it it takes very long time until its happening, so now I tried to format the card and it's been like 20 minutes and it still says ''formatting.....''.
Anyone knows how to solve this? Or any other CF card that I can purchase that has more than 2gb and is guarantee that will work fine??
