24 would be more than enough for me.

24 programs x 64 samples = 1536 samples

and you can have 4 samples on each pad if you want....6144 samples

should be enough for most songs

"..6144 samples"

You could sample every individual hit from a real drummer over 5 minutes and still have room left. Makes for some very interesting sequencing to use 3000 hits and not use once twice.

When doing this you should really be thinking if sampling is really you're thing you wanna do! :D

Okay, the thing is this....

So, it can only hold 24 programs. That doesn't mean you can only have 24 programs on your memory. It just means you can only load 24 programs at once. You can have a million kajillion programs on your memory card, you just can't load them in at once.

If you actually need to run 24 programs at once, then you're a madman.

if you use 24 programs at once not only will your music suck it will also blow up your brain and your mpc as well.

I agree that 24 programs is enough, I just thought it could take more.

24 programs x 64 samples = 1536 samples

I didn't really do the math, thats a lot of samples.

24 is plenty... Im real messy tho with making programs... I throught a program to gether in like 15 mins and i start a new one... But this is when the CF card comes in handy... Hook that Cf card straight to the Mac and fix up the programs... I love it...

i think the convenience of having so much ram & flash card memory leads to having too many sounds loaded into memory that aren't even being used... a mate of mine has the 2000xl which only has 32mb of ram and 100mb zip disks, so his program making habits are much more refined than mine, you'll rarely find a sound on his disks that aren't used somewhere.

You would have to be retarded to want your MPC to hold more than 24 programs in its internal memory at any one time. Hey, I'm not calling you retarded... and I am glad you finally did the math and now you see how ridiculously stupid it would be to complain about the 24 programs.

Don't forget you can have a gazillion programs on your PC that you can load into your MPC anytime you want. Seriously though, if you need something to complain about, pick something else because the memory on the MPC1k is STOOPID PHAT!!!

peace and b-well

Considering the MPC2000 Classic, 60 and 3000 can only use one program at a time, and the 2000XL can only use four, complaining about 24 seems demented.
