they sound kind of dark, like there's no treble right? is that typical of how the 1000 actually sounds?

haha those are mp3s of 96kbit and Joint Stereo, so I wouldn't consider those demo songs as a reference to the sound of the MPC1000

never you fies of the demonstrations. in his great majority they are compound in software to standar type: it cubase, logic. Soon they are trasvasadas to the internal system of the secuenciador of turn for my taste are simply another form more to be sold. better to happen of we give them and to prove the machine by your means. Your point of view and criterion have but value that nobody demo programmed.

as much as its natural low end, the mids and highs are very clean and crisp.

trust me...i would have returned this thing long back...and i now have two.

the FX are nice too...

the best FX i find are the 4-Band Eq & the Compressor.

the High Pass and Low Pass filters are wicked...they do wonders for Kick drums, hi hats and shakers.

the machine is a true 'Workhorse'.
