Mpc Ren setup basics. Is a hardware mixer required?

I am brand new to using an MPC and was hoping you could advise me on how to proceed. Currently I have a record player connected to a receiver with speakers connected to the receiver. I also have my MacBook Pro connected to the MPC Ren.

Do I need to purchase a hardware mixer in order to get sound from the Ren to the speakers? Right now I hear nothing when I hit the pads.

Also, when I play a record, will the sound flow through the receiver into the mixer and finally record to the Ren? I am certainly missing something in the set up phase.

Im sure this is a simple fix, but I am an absolute novice.

I think you just need to have a peek into your audio preferences in either MPC and/or your computer. Im on PC but i'm pretty sure you just gotta check what it says it's outputting to. I make tracks with no mixer whatsoever yet .

You should make a connection between the Ren to the reciever,
or hook the speakers to the Ren.
