Famous post-60s bands that we can sample without legal prblm

For an audio processing software I'm making, I want to post on my website some 10-seconds examples, based on songs that everybody know. I've contacted some labels for specific songs I had in mind, but the licensing was quite expensive (many thousand $), even for 10 seconds of music !

Question: are there some band that it is well known that their music is nearly public domain i.e. no legal problem if sampling them?

I think it is totally impossible for Beach Boys, The Doors, Daft Punk, etc., but any other idea of famous band who is known for authorizing reusing of their music ?

PS: I could use Creative Commons music or elevator music, but first I would like to see if some more well known music is possible or not.
