Exchange tips and tricks for the Akai MPC4000

Hi all, proud new 4000 owner here, enjoying getting to grips with it, am really enjoying unlearning my DAW way of working and making music in a different way.

I've got a bit of a problem - i bought it second hand and it all works fine, but when I go out of the main outs or analogue outs (has the board fitted) I get a low level noise that sounds like the hard drive whirring and bleeping plus some crackle. The phones out is clean as a whistle.

I don't mind a bit of noise but it is really noticeable and I can't live with it!

Anyone had this issue before and know any fixes? I've tried turning all volumes etc down but the only thing that stops the noise is turning it off :hmmm:

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Have you tried cleaning the actually output slots. Maybe there is dust in there.
I have not had such a problem. I hope you get to the bottom of it.

I am very pleaseed with the 4000. I used to use the main outs then because of a thread in here I tried the adat out - and I never went back. The regular outs are fine though.

Cheers,
Ian
