Hi All,
My MPC4000 has had its first hardware problem. The column of pads that are 14,10, 6 and 2 do not register when tapped.

I load a sequence that uses many tracks.
Turned on the track mute screen.
I can see that the column of pads I mentioned do not activate upon touch.

Restarted the unit
Tried to load a sample to those pads
unresponsive

I checked the pad sensitivity setting for all of the pads and they look normal.

Now here is the back-story. I rarely use my MPC4000 pads. In fact, I only use them to register where to put a sample.to I always play an attached midi keyboard or my Boss DR880 pads when I make music. I have never dropped my MPC4000. I have never rested anything on the pads.

Has this ever happened to your unit?
If so, can I fix it myself or do I need to order a new part?
I am handy enough to add a new pad sensor. Just hoping that is not necessary.

I blame Trump and Theresa May. lol

Cheers,
Ian

This happened to mine too, it was the connector on the sensor that split, a new sensor fixed it. Or you can buy a cheap MPD16 and use the sensor from that, it is identical.

Biggup Vout,
I just did a quick search on Adhuntr (searches thru all of craigslist) no mpd16s around the USA.
I looked on ebay and there are no MPD16s either.
Interesting. I wanted to do a price comparison.
Now I am considering, since I have to open it, whether or not I should do the solid state hard drive modification.
Whether I should change the rubber pads as well.

Cheers,
Ian
