Post your views and questions about the Akai MPC2500

I replaced the switches on my MPC 1000, but for the 2500, are they the same ones?

So is it SKHHAKA010 for the small ones? And SKQEADA010 for the bigger ones (stop/play, etc)?

What about the super small buttons like the 1-9 numbers?

Thanks.

The tact switches for the 2500 are the same as the 4000, 2000, 2000XL and 1000.
For all my MPC mods, I prefer using OMRON sealed tact switches 6x6x5mm (#653-B3W1022) and 12x12mm (#653-B3W-4005).

Ok thanks, I'll check those out. For the tiny buttons like I mentioned, which ones would those be? I didn't open up the MPC yet to see, are they the same size as the regular sized switches?

Don't quote me on this but I "think" those tiny buttons are the same tact switches as the 6x6x5mm.

maybe you've already done that....
but I had switch problem and found this online.

this blog is written in Japanese but the main idea is to open up the tact switch and clean the metal plates up then seal it with glue.
hope this might help you or others (I guess you can get the idea from pictures)

No, this is insane. Those tact switches are cheap, and easy to find. There is no good reason to open up the tiny parts and repair them. Just replace them.

I know it's little insane, but I have done that way and almost all of the switches came back to life....!! :)
Because I didn't have any chances to get new tact switches at that time......
And I'm still using it without any problems....

you could desolder and resolder in 10 -15 new sealed tact swiches by the time you dick around trying to take apart and clean an old 3 cents tact switch.
Just replace them.

I know open up and clean the tact switches are troublesome but 1 thing fascinates me is that this method doesn't require any soldering iron and related things. But next time, I'm sure that I would replace them all
