Actually found prices and a place to preorder

i hope that price is only for pre-orders

yeah im hoping it falls down to around 1600 after the initial release but knowing akai it will probally go up.

that makes no sense though. if the 2000xl mcd's are going for 1699 do you honestly think they'll make the better machine at a lower cost?????

They will most likely drop the prices of the 2000xl sooner or later. Especially if they release a major update for the 1000.

But it is possible they will higher the price of the 2500. The 1000 was about $850 when it came out, then they raised it to $1000. So I want a 2500 as soon as I can get one.

Akai will no way raise the price... however high demand for few MPC 2500 during the inital production might... therefore don't buy one (whiles theres a high demand)

actually, when i first saw the 1000 at sam ash they wanted $695 for it. (i should have copped it then) but i got it for $825 right before they went to $999

$695? Damn, that's the lowest price I've ever heard of on a new 1k. I'm lucky that I bought mine before the price went up to $999 as well. I found the lowest price I could last year on Nova Musik's website for $859, then I called up Guitar Center to see if they would match the price without charging any tax on it. So I brought in the printed ad and they rang it up to make the tax add up to exactly $859. Nova Musik still has them now (with the bag) for $899. that's how i did mine. of course that price of $695 was early last year. and when i finally did buy mine, sam ash went up in price but i found an online retailer selling for less than 850. i printed the ad and took it to sam ash. then a couple of days later, i found another online retailer giving a free set of headphones with the purchase of the 1k then printed that out and took it back to sam ash (after i bought my 1k) and they gave me their equivalent version of headphones for free.

You can also preorder from VST Service. Everyone will be selling them for $2000 approx.

I am excited...about 7 days until I can actually give a review on one of these babies!

I'm like 50,000X smaller than GC....But I can get you an MPC 2500 weeks to month(s) before GC has them :wink:
