Post your views and questions about the Akai MPC2500

To your last remark, dual filters and bigger screen are good features of the 1000, it also has the independant outs and effects as standard, just like the 2500. but i'm not trying to insult the 1000. I have used the 2000 and the 1000 quite a bit.

it has the 1000's screen, the 1000's mode / pads for menu functions, Q links (like the 1000), independant outs Standard, FX standard, dual filters, etc. Architecture wise it is so similar to the 1000 only really delux. I don;t see how you can deny it. It has elements of the xl in some ways, like the wheels and knobs, but overall it is clear that the 1000 and the 2500 share the most blood.

Do you see what i mean now? I'm not trying to fight or dis here, just saying it has what 1000 users have sent as wishlists since the 1000 came out, you can probably dig up the old threads in the 1000 forum, flip up screen, all that shyt was requested and if you take that list + an MPC 1000 you get the 2500 largely.

I don't see what the controversy is all about.

I think it's safe to say that the 2500 is basically the 1000 on steroids.

Why is so much thought going into what it draws relation too -- It's made by the same fukking company that made em all - Corse its gonna share looks and features etc.

If this was about the MV looking like the 4k I could see the angle a lil better

Anyway......Continue at will!

I was writing a long post but erased/deciding against it because it will
go nowhere and the post would eventually get locked. I would hate to see all the MPC 2500 threads get locked due to catz that are not even using this beast. Yes..there is a new shariff in town  The Akai MPC 2500 poised to be the most popular MPC of all tiiiiimmmmeee..............

So if you want to call it the MPC 1000 delux, when it is clear that there is not another MPC as powerful as this unit...its your right. Enjoy your toys and I will enjoy mine.

I have to concentrate on this review I am preparing for the MPC 2500.

Peace..

the 2500 is everything XL taken to the Xtreme...

the layout is its best improvement. it follows the 3k and 4k in terms of pad and transport layout.

Because of this post..I started looking into more about the MPC 1000. First thing I came across was hilarious.

Akai USA states that this MPC is for 'Anyone who wanted an MPC but could not afford it!' This is a direct quote

Here I agree with you. I think it looks to be the best design yet if all goes as planned. again, all I said was:

It's obvious to me that the 4000 is an older and different design than the 1000, and the 2500 is based much more on the 1000's design. IMO the 2500 is really a 1500 or a 1000XL since it is basically a fully grown 1000.

I think its a good direction for aki and it will be one of the best mpc's ever, IF the bug situation and QC situation has improved.

Again, IMO, I don;t think it's that out there even if you dont agree, nor is it a derrogatory statement. So I say, WTF? who cares.

You keep pointing out that it should be a 1000XL or 1500..that is a joke since there is already an MPC 2000/2000XL. You have your opinions but that makes no sense. Have you seen the real 2500 up close?? The pics on the internet do it no justice. It is even skewed in many of the pics making it look cheap like a 1000.

The 2500 looks just like an MPC 2000Xl with 'real' Q-link sliders/knobs unlike the 1000. I don't want to spoil my review so I don't want to go into details of any feature.

Nah the 1000Xl and 1500 comment wasn;t that serious, it was just something to say how 1000 based it looks, which to me is a good thing, I like the mode / pad combo for menus etc.

I have not seen one in the flesh, like I said, just my opinion, nothing more.

looking forward to your review.

I think we are missing the point here.

We need a FAQ comparing 1000 2500 and 4000.

For me........... (already owning a 2000)
the reasons i would not buy the 2500 over the 4000 is...

2500 only 16 bit... (not 24)
no akai sys...
no full featured sampler...

Of course there are many nice features on the 2500 but......
If i'm gonna drop loot i would really want an upgrade not an update...

maybe i'll wait for the 4000xl
ha ha

Anyone care to challenge this statement?

The 2500 is both an upgrade and an update. Just like the 2000Xl was to the 2000. The MPC 60 to the 60II to the MPC 3000/3000LE. The MPC 4000 is the only MPC that is way left field compaired to the others...but if you can use any MPC, you can figure it out in a reasonable amount of time.

Catz can get it or not...but no use griping about the price...

By Roopesh Wed Sep 28, 2005 2:28 am
dont even see why people are comparing 2 mpc's, which are different.

The 4000 is akai's flagship...bottom line.

the 2500 is another cheaper mid range unit. time will tell its a success or failure.

I have never owned an MPC 1000 so give me a hand...is the MPC 1000s LCD bigger than the 2000XL?

Yes it is... and the screen text is bigger as well.
