Does anyone know if a US or Japan purchased MPC2500 will be able to opeprate in Europe without a voltage converter, just by changing the plug?
Thank you

download and check the manual for the elctric plug connector specs.

It's there.

The MPC 2500 operates at 100V-220V. The manual doesn't state this. I had to open up the MPC and take a look at the internal transformer/power supply.

What about the plug difference though? Do you think that just by changing the plug it will work? Is there an internal voltage adapter or converter or something?
Thank you for replaying guys, you've been really helpful with all the info on this forum!

Every MPC since the 2kxl (at least, haven't checked the 2k or 3k) has had an internal switchmode power supply which will operate on any voltage from 100-240VAC, 50/60Hz. All you need to do is change the IEC plug. I bought my 1k from the states and it works fine on 240VAC 50Hz in Australia.

In Europe..your devices operate at above 220V. I believe your plugs are different. You will need an adaptor which should cost a few bucks because the MPC 2500 will not have this adaptor unless you purchase it from a dealer in Europe.

AsI said before, the MPC 2500 has an internal transformer that operates at 100V-120V just like the MPC 4000, and 2000XL.

Correction...it operates at 100V-240V.

do you currently own any of the mpc family? just because the 2.5k is new i don't think they would make the power supply any different than the others. whatever works for you with the mpc you own would more than likely work for the 2.5k

Yo jahrome, you said you opened it up. How many screws does it take to open it up, and is it hinged or are the top and bottom two separate pieces?

I plugged my MPC 2500 up straight out the box--it loaded NO PROBLEM. Not a single problem.

If you want access to the CDRW and hard drives, there are about 4 screws you have to remove.

If you want access to look at other internal parts, there is about 11 screws. It is very similar to opening up the MPC 2000XL.

Jahrome, are you still working with some draft copies or did you download the manual I (not Akai) linked to?
The manual says: 100 - 240 V, 50/60 hz

I looked at both actually. But after reading them, I realized that I didn't need them at all. After 2-weeks of hands on use of the MPC 2500 and with the help of some forum members, I have all the functions down.

Anyone with experience working an MPC will have very little difficulty moving to this unit.

Thanks Jahrome, good info.

next time you open it snap a pic or two, that would be interesting to see.

Thank you guys very much for your useful information about the MPC2500. I don't have one (yet), but I currently live in the USA and I'm thinking of purchasing one. Again, thank you very much!
See you around this great forum!
