I just got my 40G Toshiba hard drive today, the one thats listed on the site

it has some silver colored aluminum/plastic film wrapped on one side

is this supposed to be removed before I install it?

when I pull on it a its sticky, have any of you seen this?

Yep, just carefully pill it off and load that sucka! My toshiba 40HD works great...

I was thinking I shouldnt because it was so sticky it seemed like it was damaging something if I remove it

if it doesn't block the pins or the screw holes, then you are fine and don't need to peel it off.

Could it over heat if kept in the plastic? There are no fans-just vents-on the 2500.
