I've been using samplers in DAW's for about 6 months and i want to make the step onto an MPC. I've been looking at the likes of the 2000, 2000XL, 500, 1000 (second hand of course) , and i have a budget of about £500. I really do like the look and sound of older MPC's but at the same time the thought of something newer and more reliable keeps pulling me back. I do know a guy that does sweet repairs on old MPC's for a reasonable price as well. Could anyone suggest which one of these is a good choice / or if possibly buying a Renaissance/studio/ or even a roland SP404 would be more practical? Or even an old MPC and an SP404?? Je ne said pas? :hmmm:

(A bit off topic) What happened to commmon used market price on MPC-2000XL?
2000XL used to be cheaper than MPC-2500,
but both are traded about same price range as MPC-2500 these days.
One more reason to go for MPC-2500.
