MPC 5000 vs MPC Renaissance

With the updates thats been added since this thread started, is the transition from a 5k to Ren still a smooth one? (Sure it doesn't make much difference, but still).

Yes, 5000 import is still decent enough - I don't think anything has changed on that front. You're still going to have to tweak things and re-add all the effects etc, but it's generally decent enough.

"Line level – this is the audio from CD players, iPods, smartphones, DVD, DJ mixers, other samplers etc
Mic level – the signal received from condenser microphones.
Phono Level – the signal directly out of the back of a turntable
Digital – a pure digital signal passed through a dedicated digital connection"

( I haven't touched a Ren yet)
How much control do I have in the recording window over the respective signals? Especially regarding CD signals - (I have a perfect workflow in the 5k).

Can I control the sounds from an incoming player with the Ren? ( Play/stop/rew/ffrwd) + Would this depend on the input? External CD player directly linked up to the phono / CD player from the Mac.

Can I control the incoming CD player with the Ren? Or will I have to to control the "CD player" accordingly? This might be a silly question but coming from a 5k (where the CD drive is "internal" and have a dedicated sample window, whereas the Ren doesn't) I wouldn't know..
