I had a chance to get a secondhand MPC3000 that was on display at a Guitar Center for about $13** (or was it 16**? I don't remember). I tried it out and played with it. I even brought a disk, uploaded some samples and made a beat on it in the store. At the time, I already had my mind set on the 4000 because of its extensive feature set. Yes, the 3000 is a nice machine but it also lack a lot of the features found in the more modern MPCs. It had an archaic text-only display too with no waveform editing, no track mute screen, etc. As a result, I decided to pass on the MPC3000 and go with the big boy MPC 4000 supersampler. I'm glad I did. Even though the 3000 today is worth more than the 4000 in dollar value, the 4000 is still, to this day, the most powerful MPC hardware sampler on the planet. Oh, and the USB connectivity and 512MB sample memory is a luxury that is VERY welcome.

I'm glad you decided to keep your 4000. I don't think it is worth sacrificing for the 3000.

Thank you for your feedback. You are absolutely correct about the mpc4k,its a beast i love it would not trade it for anything.

If you are going for "sound" then you only need to get the sampler box equivalent: S2800, S3000(THIS ONE IS THE MPC 3000 SOUND)

Midi one of those boxes to the mpc4000 and you are straight.

Function wise, you are getting much less with the MPC3000.

The 4000 is the KING!

Cheers,
Ian

Thank you. Im going to stick with the mpc4k , love this machine.

Don't do it man. I sold my 4000 for a renaissance and although i like the ren alot i still miss my 4000. Comming from 3000, and 2000xl. The 4000 is definitely my favorite. Gonna get another one one day hopefully

You must feel like a d*ckhead selling your 4000 to buy a REN. :(
