I have a BLACK MPC 1000, and my boy wants to trade me my 1000 for his 2000xl with 32 megs, internal zip, and 8 outs.

Would there be a big difference, what will I lose and gain?

xl

I had an XL. I stumbled across a 1k in a pawn shop for $450 and fell in love with it, leaving my xl collecting dust! Your friend knows what he's doing!

Check the comparison chart.

Personally I'd take the XL, but that's because I don't like the feel of the 1k. If you're happy with the way the 1k feels, stick with it, because it has more software options and features than the XL.

im not sure if you tried the XL, but try it first-- then compare for yourself before you decide..

i did the exact same thing, only i sold the 1000 and copped a 2kxl.
i have no regrets at all, but the 1000 with os 3 is making me wanna buy it for the road again (next to my 2kxl).

You'll lose some functions such as sampling while playing the song/sequence.
And the loading time is MUCH slower.
But with a cf cardreader it's not big of a problem.
the pads are much nicer to work with to!

I love my 2kxl! 8)

I agree, go with the XL for that phat sound. I have both and sold my 1000 for a maxed out XL. It just depends on what you like as far as sound & options. The 1000 has great options just not enough to keep me as a user! :D

Your boy is trying to come up and take advantage of you.

Don't do it. Keep the 1k.

I think the 1000 is far more feature filled than the XL.

Also, if you edit in a computer, its much easier to get files into the 1000. Not that its that hard to get files into the XL either, but....! I like the XL better, but thats just cause I'm used to it. The 1k looks tight for the price.
