Hi all,

This is my post first here. I'm currently considering buying either a MPC1000 or 2500 (with JJOS). Before I do, however, I was wondering which parameters in MPC can be controlled via an external MIDI device.

I've read some stuff on here, and in the manual. However, I don't see anyone ever mention the parameters I'm interested in. Basically, I want to control things like filter cutoff, filter envelope, amp envelope, LFO depth and speed, and other possible parameters that can modulate a sound.

Here's the stuff I already found:

Anyone know whether this is possible in JJOS?

Thanks,

Hubertoef

for first 16 tracks you can use controller simultaneously for each track:

#01 => Modulation wheel
#02 or 74 => Filter Cutoff
#07 => Volume
#10 => Pan
#71 => Filter resonance
#91 => FX send
Pitchbend
Program Changes

rest of the tracks also, but only 1 by 1 (active track)

beside it has MIDI to button feature, where LFO rate or other q-link parameters can be controlled from ext, you can mute/solo tracks, from any screen,

Hi Bugfix,

Thanks for your reply. I have a bit of trouble understanding you fully. What do you mean by "you can use controller simultaneously for each track"? Does a single Control Change Message modify all the filters of 16 tracks simultaneously? Or do you mean you can control a single parameter, even for non-selected tracks?
Also, I thought filter and resonance were parameters of a pad/sound, as opposed to a track. Am I wrong? Please bear in mind that I do not own an MPC (yet).

Also, can the envelope parameters (for filter and amp) be controlled by MIDI CC-messages?

Thanks again.

Ah, I refer to JJOS 2XL and later OS'.

Except 1-track operation, there is an additional multi-mode that lets you record/thru incoming notes and other messages on first 16 tracks from other controllers, while record drumming and MPC specific events on track ie:17

filter/resonance - you can set it up per pads and over tracks as well.

No envelopes automation. Beside what I listed, any other available MPC parameters can altered only via q-link (driven by CC eventually) or switched with Program Change.

Thanks again.

I wan't looking for automation per se. Just controlling them is enough. But I guess this makes no difference, right? So envelopes can only be influenced via Q-link. Is this also true for the filter env amount/depth?
