Guys, i'm thinking about replacing my MPC 1000 with a 2500, but now I'm a bit lost with the available JJ OS versions. Although there's comparison on the JJ OS website, I don't get the point whether the 2500 can do more than my 1000 with a JJ OS. Can someone here give me an advice whether the 2500 with JJ OS can do better than my 1000 or not? Thanks!

I cant tell you the what the jjos recent version for the 2500 can do vs the mpc1000 but i think upgrading to the 2500 is a good idea. i have jjos128xl "for the lx led screen" and i love it! it blows the akai os outof the water. there still things im learning on it. i wish htere was an operators manual.

I own both and there are a few differences between both machines like :-

Pads) The MPC2500 has regular size pads compared to the smaller pads of the 1000
Outputs) The 2500 has a total of 10 outputs compared with the 1000 which has 6
MIDI Outs) The 25000 has twice the MIDI outs (4).
Tilting Screen) Which is soooo nice to use compared the non tilt flat screen of the 1000
Q-Links) The 2500 has 2 Q sliders and 2 Qlink dials compared to the two sliders on the 1000
CD ROM) The 2500 has an optional CD ROM drive from which you are able to sample from directly
Weight) The 2500 isn't as portable like the 1000 which will fit in a record bag or backpack etc

Apart from that the OS between them is 99.9 per cent identical. If you using the same OS on both machines, for example JJOS2XL version 3.55 on your 1000 then it will load on the XL Version 3.55 on the 2500 and visa versa.

If you good at translating broken Japanese back into English then you might be able to get on with the manual JJ wrote for OS128XL Salt

Finally I did it :) Now I got a 2k5 with JJ OS XL installed and feel very happy. The hardware is better, smoother to operate and the big JJ OS is awesome. Only the data wheel isn't working as good as on the 1k.

My job wheel was lagging my mode button was only working randomly...both are "annoying". So i bought a PCB board from mpcstuff its pricey but well worth it jog wheel works flawlessly and alot smoother. you holdthe shif button "I think and use the link slider to trim alot quicker while slicing and trimming smaples as well that helped alot before i made the PCB purchase.
