Data wheel acting as play button in trim mode

Hi there i have a Mpc 1000 with JJ OS 2 version 1.23 and i was wondering how the hell was possible to play the sample in trim mode with the data wheel and while i was scrooling the sample back and fwd the data wheel was acting like a play button.I love this because i can sample some vocals and i can play them so lively and i can record that in ableton with some effects on the channel it's sounds awsome.

But my problem is i can't do that everytime i want,it's this a bug ,is it a future that mpc has and i'm activating this by mistake? Please tell me i can do this again.Thanks and sorry for my brokenenglish .
