what does it mean when the rec gain button isn't sending a stereo signal?? basically I'm hearing my samples come out of only one monitor. or when i plug my headphones in the mpc 500 same thing. I also have to press down on the button to hear the signal through both ears.

It means you didn't read the manual!

REC GAIN does not SEND a signal to speakers/headphones, it RECEIVES a signal from an external source like a CD player or turntable. You monitor the signals being received via speakers/headphones but you control that with the MAIN VOLUME knob. Capish?

The only time you should be adjusting the REC GAIN knob is when sampling. Other than that, it does nothing to the samples you sampled already.
