Reviews and questions about the entry-level MPC500

So I just bought mpc 500 through a friend of a friend and it has all his previous work on it. I went into the mpc and deleted most of the samples/sequences and recorded some of my own. But as soon as I turned it off. All the old samples/sequences came back. They are not shown in the [Mode]/Load but still on the pads when I press them. I tried resetting to factory default but that didn't work either. I'm confused. Been reading the manual but I can't seem to find anything. I feel like it's saved to the compact flash. Any tips or advice? Thank you!!!

P.S. My samples are still on the mpc but no longer applied to the pads that I assigned them to.

Seems like autoload is active. Check page 100 in the manual..
Also, the 500 can store samples in flash memory: page 101

So I went ahead and formatted the card. When i press play and go through the sample banks and press the pads, the samples are still there :?

Would this have anything to do with the RAM? I don't have a ram attached to it.
