and what happens to the samples assigned to the 16 pads mpc500 don't have?

how many programs and sounds can the mpc 500 store?

sorry for asking all thees questions but a need to find out what this mpc is capable of doing

Ram size for holding sounds is:11.5 MB this is equal to about 2min 2 secs worth of sound in mono(or something like that).

It will allow up to 24 programs to be used at one time.

What about the other way...loading seqs, pgm & sounds from the 500 to the 2000xl ?

I believe you can only load Wave, programs, and song data to the 2000xl from the 500 check at akai to be sure at the above URL :D

All I want to know is if the 2000XL can read the SEQ files created on a 500. I will get a 500 to use at work to make sequences and bring home to my XL on my CF card. This will be awesome - please someone let us know

That's great news! I appreciate your reply and look forward to getting one of these! Nova just hit me back with the price of $699 no mention of shipping costs. Should I jump, or counteroffer them since I have heard of some getting it for $675 and $625 from them. Thanks again for answering my question upright.

Looks like their prices are going up. I'd do what ever I could to get the lower price. The worst the could do is say no.
