The GC's around my way are selling them 500's for like $599. If you know how to talk to people, I can usually get anything they're selling in there knocked down from $50-$200 bucks easy. Just gotta know what to say.

VST's site says $799 again but I called and they said they can go as low as $650 plus they offer an extended warranty. I hate Guitar Center so I might just get it through VST.

ya i am going to call GC tomorrow and tell them im returning the mpc unless they give me it for 650 with the extended waranty or at least hook me up with ram and the warranty and can keep the extra 60 bucks. I doubt they r gonna say ok just return it. Ive spent 8 grand in boston at GC i just wish i tshowed at this one.

got mine for $700 at sam ash. might have been able to go a little lower if i had haggled with him a little more but i was pretty happy with the price.

i don't know about that $589 price. i got mine at one of those green tag sales for $650 last friday the 2nd of december after i was reading on here. the guy said the green tag sale means 1/2 of the msrp and he didn't belive that someone got it for $599 but if you guy's really did already purchase yours for that much you got lucky cause the salesman made a mistake i think.

vstservice.com quote i just received via email is $650 including extended warranty, EXM128, and free shipping. Since the EXM128 costs about $150 bucks at guitar center, that essentially places the MPC500 at $500 from these guys...

"MPC500’s for $650 with EXM 128 and extended warranty plus free UPS ground shipping" - That's all they said. I'll ask them.

EXM 128 comes installed from VST.

Bargining with these cats is easy... Do it on the phone before you go in, you are less likely to be intimidated, or profiled. Just call, tell them that a place in another state you found on ebay is selling it for 615 out the door, that its a legitimate distributor of akai. Like Arrons music in New York. Say that youd prefer to buy locally, and ask what they can at least match it. If the person yanks your crank telling you that they cant because its too close to cost, ask them to ask their manager (only the manager has the right to take the price down to "cost". Of course its not really cost because GT buys in huge volume and shipping is almost free for them.
