Connector In Battery Compartment?

What is the white 50 pin female connector (J110) inside the MPC500 battery compartment, on the pcb next to the memory expansion slot, used for?

Debugging? Service? Expansion?

You beat me to it.....I saw that the other day......and I have no idea. external HD....naw.....is that even possible with that connector?

I'm reliably informed by Mike Goins from the Akai Mailing list that it is a bespoke Akai service connection.
