I FINALLY GOT MY EXTRA RAM.

but i got hella problems.

1st off all the diagram that comes with it is not for a 500 cause the area for the ram is seperate in the pictures....ok fine.

it seemed pretty obvious where and how the ram was to be intalled....
atleast i thought.....after messing around a while i got it in.

when i turned the mpc on it was still saying 16 mb on the start up screen.
do i have to do something so the mpc recognizes it?

also i managed to crack one of the plastic slides on the side taking it out...
it looked like it has a metal contact on it.....im guessing i efffffff't up real good here.

anyone installed theres already and can help please advise<--------------

I accidentally broke the right plastic thingy holding the ram in place completely off.
The ram (Kingston) is now being held in place only
in the left side, but it's recognized by the MPC500 and working
perfectly.
The thing that's bugging me is that I was installing the ram exactly
like I was supposed to. The plastic broke of as soon as I tried to
click the ram in place.
It seems to me like the plastic is way too brittle.
How can I prove to Akai and my retailer that it wasn't my fault?

[/b]the thing i dont understand is why cant i get the ram card to stay in?

ive put ram into my computer in 5 seconds......
i really dont want to keep pulling it in and out and risk further damage

lets say i accidentlly touched the gold part (wich i was carefull not too but you never know) could that cause it not to work?

if its installed correct it will say 128mb at start up instead of 16
right?

or do you have to make the mpc recognize it somehow?

man this is frustrating cause i wanna record some beats and transfer them to my pc......but i got no room on that stupid 16mb cause im using so many samples......

let me ask you this.....close to the middle of the card there is a slit in it.

on the end that it connects to there also is a slit.
on my mpc there is about a 1/4 or 1/8 inch gap in that slit....
it does not go all the way in?

is yours completly in? or is there a space?

im trying to pinpoint where my problem is.....

Hey everyone! I'm relatively new to the MPC scene and purchased a 500. It works well and all but I just cant seem to find out if it recognizes the newly installed 128 MB RAM I recently purchased. On startup it first says "MPC 500", then it says "Owned by: Tully" (I'm guessing the last guy who owned it) Where can I find how much ram it's reading?
