i would imagine he is pretty much occupied with os v2 for the 1k, then the 2500. in a way v2 was bad news for 500 owners, as it will doubtless use all his resources for the next few months, and the 500 os project might slip off the radar. but lets try and remain positive!! :)

* small font

What do you mean? Smaller font = more info on screen? I think that's not possible, 'cause the display is fixed to 2x16 characters, and I'm 99.99999% sure, that the "font" is fixed in the display hardware.

Yes but the MPC1000 display is graphic capable (don't know the pixel size), and so the OS manages the look of fonts and stuff. But the MPC500 display can ONLY display characters. It has a simple 2x16 character grid with 9x5 pixels per character, and AFAIK this cannot be overridden.

... and the MPC500 screen ... :roll: Maybe IF it is possible to create new characters, how will you put more than one character in a 9x5 pixel grid?

When you scroll through the sample assigns the A10, A11 and A12 are represented in just two spaces... maybe it would be possible to squash things up a bit like this? Maybe that wouldn't be necessary if long sample names etc scrolled across the screen tho.

well dunno if this proper OS ever becomes reality.

but what would be a nice feature would be a track merge function - for example if you have BD on track 1, SD on track 2 other beats on tracks 3..12, then you could merge down all or some of the tracks on one track.

it's easier when creating beats to make lay them on separate tracks and edit them, but sometimes when the sequencing is "finished" then it might be more hany to have everythin under one track mute pressing.

?

only thing i'd want is more polyphony

I would want a dedicated pattern play mode.

Just Wondering ? This topic did not move since July 2007... Does this mean that JJ OS for MPC 500 has been cancelled ? I would love to have an auto chop function so bad and to be able to change 'program' attributes instead of changing the attributes of my samples one by one...
Anyone ? :wink:
