Problem with Q-Links

I have a problem with the understanding of the q-link controls.
How can I apply e.g. a filter to a sample while it is playing in a sequence.
I found out that the q-link only affects the sound when I press the pad....

naw if its anything like the 2500 I do it like this...

Record the samples to the sequence
then
SEPERATELY record the q-link movements
once u have linked ur qlink to ur sample
hit "OVERDUB" on the EXACT same track that ur sample is on and then just move ur qlinks and u'll hear the effects as u record them
