Great thread choice. I'll share my favorites, starting with the MIDI performance Apps which have revolutionized my workflow.

SoundPrism Pro: http://www.soundprism.com/index_pro.php Stunningly simple, yet very complex. Not being a great keyboardist, I've gotten many songs' worth of dope chord changes out of this one. Works great on hardware, too. Here's a video I made showing how to use this as a MicroKorg controller:

PolyChord: http://www.polychordapp.com I like SoundPrism a little better, but the strum feature on PolyChord makes it well worth it. Here's a video about using PolyChord as a Reason 6 controller:

Genome MIDI Sequencer: http://www.whitenoiseaudio.com/apps/genome-midi-sequencer/ AMAZING. I've used this to control Ableton, Pure Data, the MPC1000, and NLOG iOS all at once and it does a great job. Great swing features, easy to get around in and fun to use.Only like two bucks more than the Koushion MIDI sequencer, https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/koushion-midi-step-sequencer/id424454249?mt=8 and Genome eats Koushion for lunch.

One syth app I haven't seen any love for yet is NLOG. I use this to feed signal to my talkbox onstage, and it works and sounds great every time. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/nlog-midi-synth/id391268291?mt=8 Super cheap right now and has AudioBus support!

And of course, TouchOSC! http://hexler.net/software/touchosc The most versatile app on the planet. Must have!

Peace!

Touch OSC vs Lemur vs MIDI Designer Pro, wuddya think? I'll end up getting one or the other, just not right now though.

I've never used Lemur (and at $50, probably never will), so I'd definitely say TouchOSC. I use the LiveControl TouchOSC template to perform with Ableton from my iPad, and it works great. The user community seems friendly, and making your own templates is intuitive.

As far as making MIDI controllers with TouchOSC, though, it's not always so simple. I made a MicroKorg template using TouchOSC this weekend, and ended up sending the OSC messages to PureData which then used that input to send MIDI messages to the MK. Works fine. Certainly better than buying that Missing Link MIDI box for $165. LOL!

Yuck!

For creating MIDI controller templates, the SonicLogic app looks promising, too. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/sonic-logic/id573446786?ls=1&mt=8 Better price ($10) than MIDI Touch or Lemur, and you can make your own templates. Haven't used it, but the developer seems very cool and involved with reaching out to potential users.

Touch OSC is great especially at the lower price. Lemur's premium price is buying you a more complex application overall, mainly in the area of physics behavior of the apps "objects".

Basically what sets Lemur apart from other similar software is the very well programmed physics engine. It really comes into it's own on stuff like fader throws and X/Y and "spring" controlled stuff. You can define all the aspects of how the physics work, speed, friction and so on.

When using different kinds of macro assignments and those sorts of things the physics of Lemur open up a lot of possibilities.

Lemur last week added the ability to make templates right from the app, although the same desktop editor is still available.

Touch OSC is like $5 or $6 I think so I recommend it to anyone. Then if you find yourself wishing for the physics modelling Lemur offers head over to that one. I'm happy to have both.

It's gonna be a while before I get it but thanks. I'll keep on researching everything I can until time comes to do it.

I brought soundprism but I really don't get it yet, polychord seems a better choice but soundprism sounds kind of random.
