Is there a function that will only allow a sample to play for the length of the red "icon" (see image)? I understand "note on" will play the sample as long as I hold the pad but this doesn't seem to apply if I made inputs/edits on the computer. If I extend the red icons or shorten them, the sample will play to the end regardless. Hopefully that question makes sense. http://medias.audiofanzine.com/images/normal/akai-mpc-touch-1283574.jpg

A 'note on' sample will play for the entire duration of the 'event' (what you call 'icon'). However to do this the original sample needs to either already have a duration at least equal to the length of that event, or ideally, you have to loop the original sample. A looped sample will play for as long as you hold down a pad. Making edits on your computer is irrelevant to your problem, you just need to loop the sample - i.e. set loop markers and LOOP:FWD in Sample Edit, then set pad to NOTE ON.

I cover looping in a lot of detail in my MPC Touch book: http://www.mpc-samples.com/product.php/ ... uch-bible/
