mpc studio- unlocking

i cant unlock my mpc studio, its not accepting my serial number? anyone know how to unlock it?

You should not have to type it during the unlock process. When you hook it up, drivers installed, start the software & click "unlock now" or whatever, the SN space on the form is already filled out with your unit's SN. Fill out the rest & click "submit" (I think? if memory serves). If it says it cannot authorize/unlock the software, you'll need to call Akai support & get your activations reset. It comes with 4, but my last 2 times calling they only cleared 2 activations for me. I format a lot.
This assumes of course that you've already registered your Studio on the Akai Pro website. If you are unable to register, a call to Akai Customer Support will get you sorted.

I hadn't even considered this as an issue but I am contemplating buying the MPC Live and probably selling my Studio. Is registration/serial-validation likely to be an issue if I do?
