I went through this before here, but a quick run down on my findings.
The method I used to use a lot was:
sample a section.
then sample silence for .1 seconds a few times, save these samples.
Go to sample edit (sound 6) and go to the main sample you want to chop.
on the right is the place where you can set a region to copy, set those for a section you want to cut. set the soft key 3 to play zone.
Once you have it how you want it, change the do it field to copy sound to temp.
Press do it.
Then go to one of your .1 second samples, change the do it field to insert or paste I forget. Press do it. then trim the extra .100 of the sample off.
Repeat.
Now I just sample the section again unless I cant. If there are many samples, I just run the sound source again and trim it for one sound. then repeat. It is much faster, even on the S6000.
