yo i got in from out of town tonight (again) and found a busted ass mpc60 waitng for me, my first task is to replace the disk drive, dude that sold it to me said it was "working"....ah his defintion of working must be it turns on, anyhow does the 60 use regular ide 3.5 drives or am i looking at some serious damge.

IDE floppy ? That's a new one :-)

It uses an older variation of the AT style interface set down for floppy disk drives.

A very particular model.

Route66 sell a model that can be swapped in when the original dies.

if i were you i wouldnt get a drive from ROUTE 66...
ive heard that the replacement drives they have will not work with the 3.10e OS on the MPC60!!!

it was either FORAT or VST that told me ROUTE 66 drives dont work with the OS upgrade... they quoted me $135 for one installed, but ive not went for it yet cuz ive got the SCSI zip going...

ANYONE KNOW WHERE ELSE TO ORDER A REPLACEMENT FLOPPY THAT WILL WORK WITH THE MPC60 OS VERSION 3.10????????

the os is 2.12 but i miht want to eventually upgrade it so im waiting on forats reply since vst left a screw inside mt 3000 last time around. btw: im gon chronicle this whole shit....like pimp my ride, but for the MPC...lol. thanks fellas.

Shell out for the Forat or VST floppy for sure. You can install it yourself I'm sure.

Don't use the Route 66 drive, as others have mentioned, not worth the money.
