I have a drive from a 200xl. It is a teac fd-235hf.

jumper settings are set like this:

I have tried the ribbon cable upside down, and downside up...

one way the floppy light stayed on, and the other says no floppy inserted...

I should also mention that there was an internal zip installed, and the original power cable for the floopy has been cut. They took power from a couple of IC leads ( this should be the same ) BUT, I noticed the original floppy power cable has 4 wires, and this only has 2....

Thanks!

You should be able to get that drive working, if the jumpers are set right.

How to set the jumpers has been covered many times over so I'm gonna leave you to discover what is needed. You may find the settings slightly differ from those for an MPC60 which is set for DD disks. Seeking out the datasheet for that particular FDD won't hurt either. But if I were you I'd really want to get the floppy power supply back to 'normal' while doing this maintenance. What is shown in your final photo, I've never seen that particular hack before, maybe someone else can comment on that.

Thanks for the help Clint.

I searched for a long time last night, and a lot of the jumper settings posts pics are dead. I did search his morning again for the error code this time ff80, and found a jumper settings pic posted by DJAMES that was still there!

Once I did the jumpers, it worked! I was able to format, load, save, and re-load.

I was so glad I didn't have to buy a drive, as I had about 4 of them in boxes from around 2005 when I used to install card readers on 2000xl's for people...

As far as that power setup, that is from a FORAT installed internal zip drive on this 3000. Even the SCSI bridge and locations are different than the ones posted here. I am only temporarily using the floppy to transfer about 250 disks of samples and drums from way back.... I will put the zip back in as soon as I'm done.

ok, so I thought I was out of the water.

The issue now is that if I am loading an mpc60 2 disk "set", the disk containing the .st2 file does not load. The machine will go through loading the 1st disk, and then ask for the "all snds.st2", when I insert the 2nd disk and press soft key 1, nothing happens.

Its as if the floppy drive is not re-reading a newly inserted disk.

This is confirmed by the fact that if I insert a disk upon startup, it will read and I can see filenames on the disk, if I eject that disk and insert another, and hit Disk, 7 again (load), there is no read sound from the drive and the filenames from the prior disk are still showing.

Could this still be my jumpers? I set them exactly like in the pic above, and also tried reversing the floppy cable.

Here are some pics:

Sounds like the DC (Disk Change) jumper, is not set correctly. If that is the only issue you are having.

What is the full part number/model number of the drive?

Teac FD235-HFxxxx

There are many variations of this drive, the last four digits (HFxxxx) differentiate between them and enable you to search online for the correct datasheet. Without the datasheet, trial and error is your best bet, although quite time-consuming.

It is a Teac FD235-HF A549

checked both here and google for a datasheet, and NADA....

Which jumper row should I start fiddling with for Disk Change?

Thanks for your help!

Really?

This is just one of many results Google throws up.
