so i found an mpc60 in my local area for sale. it has the ram upgrade, 3.10 and new pads and sensors cleaned. yet the guy said the psu of the backlight creates a hum, (which stops once you produce sound) and it has a faint smell of smoke because the previous owner before him possibly spilled bong water on it LOL. all those issues have now been fixed other than the hum an smell. other than that he said its in good condition an even went cheaper for those issues. what do you think? if the light is a common issue then its no biggie for me. its all self explanatory but i prefer your guys thoughts :) thankyou.

Are you implying im going to buy it and make a bunch of pointless posts?

Thats not the case here. Im not overly educated with this specific model of mpc. But most of what i would question in the future i could simply research on the forum instead of making a new post as i did previously when i was new to the forum. Lol give a guy a break

How much raudy?

Just make sure to research the questions you have with Google or the 15 years of past threads here and people won't hate as much.

There is a Test Mode for the MPC60 but you need the Test Disk.
MPC test function:
1. DAC Trim
2. ADC Monitor
3. CPU RAM test
4. Battery CDAM test
5. Sound Memory test

the hum is from the LCD inverter... it is normal (if it's the sound I am thinking of) ... this is something that only can be fixed really by replacing the screen with a new modern LCD that doesn't require the inverter anymore.. it gets bypassed and no longer gets powered on.

Check for water damage. If a bong was spilled on the machine I would not be as concerned with the smoke smell as I would be with what could be drenched.

Test it out and see if everything works.

Spray some Deoxit in all the rotary potentiometers and work it in by rotating it back and forth. Don't use WD-40!!!!
