Playing against drum loops

I’m actually using an sp1200, but it’s a lost art. I am trying to learn how to sequence with drum loops, I can’t seem to add single hits with the loop. The loop and the 1200 have diff swing I guess.

How did people do it back in the day? I’d appreciate any help. Thanks

Just to clarify - you own a SP1200 but cannot figure out how to layer a drum sample over a drum loop with an MPC60 or 3000?

The loop has its own swing. Try turning off quantize.
