Somebody told me to post this in here instead of the n00b forum ...

solid red light if disk is loaded at startup or upon disk access or format
along w/ a slight buzzing noise

when i try to format the disk (any disk) it does that whole thing and then it tells me ...

OOPS! Bad data from disk................................................%

i have tried everything i think the drive is bad ?

I tested your disk drive just before I closed up the box and mailed it.

It works fine. Unless it got damaged during shipping, but I doubt it.

Youre just not formatting it correctly. Follow the manual directions.

Try again.

i suppose the disk that came in the drive itself was not formatted correctly either ? ??

Mine does this once in a while..it works fine after you:
-Let it warm up, leave it on a good 30mins before loading/saving..then it works fine again.
-Get a floppy disk cleaner on ebay and run it a couple times (16 times) in there to clean the heads.

I haven't replaced my drive, since it works after I do the above; and, because I don't know exactly where to buy a brand new replacement drive or which exact model to buy (too many confusing threads that lead me to nowhere).

Check for dry joints on the floppy power connector under the power PCB in the S950. You'll have to unscrew it from the side. It's the pcb with attached heat sink. Might not be your prob, but that made one of my S950 floppy drive's work properly again.
