As expected, the omron B3f-1020 are good. I just replaced every single switch in my mpc, and it feels great. (along with the electrical tape pad sensitivity improvement - haven't gotten around to the silicone fix yet.)
It only took like an hour and a half, but it felt like friggin forever. I feel like I may have lost a few brain cells from all the flux fumes from the desoldering wick.
I had bought 100 of the switches for $10 off this guy on ebay. I first tried to order them from sparkfun, cuz I've had good experiences with them previously, fast shipping and all.
But check out this BS:
Quoted from the
product page:
These are high quality Omron type B3F momentary on switches.
I ordered them, and they're absolute crap. So I emailed them up and was like "dudes, these switches are absolute crap.
" (paraphrased)
And they reply:
I think the issue is a
misunderstanding of our description. These are not actually Omron
switches, but simply Omron type or similar to Omron switches. I can
see where the confusion came from and have put in a note with our
catalog manager to get this updated.
What is this BS? There is absolutely no room for interpretation in the description, I didn't misunderstand, they just lied!
Whatever, I have the good omron switches now, it was only like $12 wasted.
