The second cap was 1/8" too short. Apparently I don't have measuring skillz.
Then the third one I accidentally made a big chip in while using my file skillz.
And the glue skillz I mentioned, I positioned the tabs I glued on wrong and it didn't fit into the side of the mpc. So scrap those tabs.

Fail skillz.

Ah well, I guess I'll just try again tomorrow.

cut it twice and it was still short huh...?

Yeah, I dunno how I was able to get it so wrong.

So the panels are almost done, building-wise, I still have to stain and finish them.

I just have to wait for some more glue to dry, then put on the 3 final hook tab things, then wait for that glue to dry.
I'll post more pics of my skillz when I do those steps.

After the waiting skillz, I just need to do some more sanding/filing skillz, then some staining skillz, then some varnishing skillz, then I'm done skillz!

Muzak? Like elevator music? :?

I think I'll stick to more like the kind of stuff I make now. :)

But yeah, once I'm done, I might try and so something for the beat battle, just to try something new.

Glue's dry, both sides fit perfectly!

They're both a bit big, obviously better to have excess that can be sanded off.
So I just have to do that, then sand it smooth, then stain and varnish.

I'm really satisfied. Now I can really call my mpc my own!

Alright, I'm not gonna get around to staining and varnishing skillz tonight, so here's some pics of the panels completely done except for those two skillz.
The mpc looks so much more awesome with these.

What color do you guys think I should stain these before varnish?
Natural (no stain), a slightly darker mahogany color, or a dark brown stain?
It might also end up just being whatever stain there is in my house.

Just for one minute, I thought i was on the carpenterz with skillz forum . Personally I would varnish them a slightly darker mahogany colour, think it would go nicer with the black 1000, then a lighter colour.

Yeah, I was thinking also that I wanted something darker than the natural pine color. I'll probably go with like I said, just whatever stain there happens to be lying around the house.

EDIT:

I went with a dark-ish mahogany color, it looks great. It makes all my imperfect sanding scratches and chips more visible, but I like the way it looks, it really gives off the DIY handmade look.
I'll varnish it tomorrow probably, get ready for pics of general skillzing skillz!
